The P-Shot, or Priapus Shot, is known as one of the best non-surgical treatments for erectile dysfunction (ED) and male enhancement. If you are thinking about this treatment, you are probably wondering: how does P-Shot work?

Unlike pills that only give a temporary fix, or implants that require surgery, the P-Shot helps your body heal itself. In this guide, we will walk you through the entire p-shot process step-by-step, explaining how it uses your own natural healing power to restore your sexual function.

Step 1: The Blood Draw

The first step of the p-shot procedure starts with a simple blood draw. Just like a regular check-up at the doctor, we take a small amount of blood (about 1 to 2 small tubes) from your arm. This blood contains Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), which is the key to the treatment.

Because we only use material that comes directly from your own body, there is almost no risk of an allergic reaction or your body rejecting the treatment.

Step 2: Spinning the Blood

Right after we draw your blood, we place it into a special FDA-approved machine called a centrifuge. This machine spins the blood very fast for about 10 minutes.

The fast spinning separates your blood into different parts:

  • Red Blood Cells: Sink to the bottom.
  • Clear Plasma: Floats to the top.
  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP): Stays in the middle layer. This is the "liquid gold" we need.

We carefully take out this middle layer of PRP. It has a huge amount of platelets—up to five times more than normal blood. These platelets are full of natural growth factors that help your body heal and grow new tissue.

Step 3: Numbing and Comfort

While your blood is spinning, we make sure you are completely comfortable. Dr. Nina Gupta applies a strong numbing cream to the treatment area. Sometimes, a small numbing shot is also used to block any feeling in the area.

Is it painful?

The biggest worry most men have is pain. Because we use very strong numbing creams and techniques, almost all of our patients feel little to no pain at all during the treatment. It is very quick and easy to handle.

Step 4: The PRP Injection

Once you are fully numb, we mix the PRP with a safe calcium solution. This "wakes up" the platelets and tricks them into thinking there is an injury to heal. They immediately start releasing their powerful growth factors.

Using a very tiny needle, Dr. Gupta carefully injects the PRP into the specific areas of the penis that fill with blood during an erection. Placing the injections in the right spots is highly important so that the growth factors can start working exactly where they are needed most.

Step 5: The Healing Response (The "Magic")

Once inside, the PRP starts a powerful healing process. This is the core of how the treatment actually repairs your body, and it continues to work for weeks after your visit:

New Blood Vessels

The growth factors tell your body to create brand new blood vessels. More blood vessels mean much better blood flow, which leads to harder, stronger, and easier erections.

Healing Nerves

The PRP helps heal and regrow nerve tissue. For older men, or those with diabetes, a loss of feeling can ruin sexual pleasure. Healing these nerves brings back sensitivity and enjoyment.

Building Collagen

The treatment helps your body make more collagen. This makes the tissue stronger and more elastic. It can even help straighten out the penis for men dealing with mild Peyronie's disease.

Step 6: Recovery and Peak Results

Your entire visit will usually take less than an hour. Because there is no surgery involved, there is absolutely zero downtime. You can drive yourself home and get back to your normal routine right away—including having sex that same day.

When will I see P-Shot results? Healing and growing new tissue takes a little bit of time. While some men notice a difference immediately (because of the fluid injected), the real healing takes a few weeks. Most men start to see much better, stronger erections and more feeling between weeks 3 and 4. The best P-Shot results usually show up around 8 to 12 weeks after the visit. These amazing benefits can last anywhere from 12 to 18 months, or even longer depending on your overall health.
