How does shockwave work exactly?
Shockwave is a non-invasive procedure, meaning it works outside the body. During the procedure the doctor will direct shockwaves into the penis which cases microtrauma. This microtrauma causes a healing reaction which causes new blood vessels and tissues to grow, similar to when you exercise.
How is the procedure performed?
The patient lays down on a bed and the doctor moves the shockwave device to specific areas of the penis. The doctor measures the energy levels and how many pulses each specific area gets. The procedure is done in a private room in our health clinic.
Who is performing the procedure?
At Doctor For ED, the shockwave procedure and all procedures are performed by a board certified Anti-aging and regenerative medicine doctor who is a specialist at drug free treatments for erectile dysfunction.
How do I prepare for a shockwave session?
Before your appointment to get shockwave done, it is recommended that patients be clean, but shaving is optional. Before the procedure begins the doctor will apply a numbing agent on the shaft of the penis to prevent pain and discomfort during the treatment.
Is there any pain involved?
The doctor applies a professional grade numbing agent to the area being treated about 30 minutes before the procedure. This will prevent any pain or discomfort and patients usually say that the treatment is completely pain free.
Can you have Sex after the procedure?
After the procedure, your penis may feel slightly sore, but you can resume normal daily activities right after the procedure.
How long does it take for shockwave therapy to work?
Shockwave therapy is more effective after a few procedures, this is because there has been sufficient microtrauma to the tissue and it has healed over. The goal is to have a few rounds of this healing effect to really cause a change.
How often can you have shockwave therapy?
It is generally recommended that you allow your body to heal for a full week before you have another shockwave therapy.
Are there any side effects with shockwave therapy?
Other than some mild soreness after the treatment, there has been no side effects reported with shockwave therapy.

Where exactly do they place the shockwave instrument?
The shockwave instrument is shaped like a wand which the doctor will apply on the penis with considerable pressure. This will cause the shockwaves traveling through the wand to travel through the tissues and blood vessels of the affected area. The wand is placed in a few different spots along the shaft of the penis and also under the penis.
